Lens Test: Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM

Verdict: The widest of Canon's recent barrage of wide-angle, full-frame prime lenses, this 24mm f/2.8 IS USM ($807, street)-along with the 28mm f/2.8, and new 35mm f/2-forms a three-tiered team, notable for compact proportions, reasonable pricing, and image stabilization across the board.

This is another fantastic Canon prime I use for video

5.0
Verdict: This is another fantastic Canon prime I use for video. I have the 24mm L 1.4 ii , but i use this 2.8 specifically for video. I also have the 35mm F2 which I prefer over this do to better low-light and sharpness but this, over all if a great stabilized lens and fantastic for run-and-gun.

Favorite lens so far

5.0
Verdict: I bought this lens to use in low light places such as bars for promotional work. This thing is so much better for me than my 50 1.4 or 18-55 and 55-250. It works. The low light capabilities combined with the wide angle have produced images better than I ever dreamed of straight out of the camera.

Quite Satisfied

4.6
Verdict: I own the 24-70 2.8L and the 24 - 105 4.0L. my biggest gripe has been the the lack of sharpness on the edges at the widest angle at 24 mm, as well as the darkness around the edges during indoor group shooting.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Superior build quality, Super-sharp images, worth the money
Cons:

Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM review by MichaelShea

No reviews
Verdict: From my own extensive research of the worldwide web, I fully expected this lens to be somewhat inferior to its 35mm f2 similarly image stabilised sibling, which in fairness would have been far easier to construct.
Pros: Fairly lightweight and compact; near silent, precise autofocus; attractive colours; extremely effective image stabilisation; low distortion
Cons: Lens hood is essential but not provided; adequate sharpness but not outstanding

Great event lens.

5.0
Verdict: Love this lens! I often shoot Holiday events and it's great for small groups or individuals up close. Sharp, light weight, non-intrusive, and fast focus. I previously used a 50mm and 70-200 but this lens allows me to mingle in the party and still get full length photos with surrounding atmosphere,...
Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Strong Construction
Cons:

Great lens to have for both aps-c & ff sensor DSLR

4.8
Verdict: This lens is light, small, high build quality and can be a great walking around lens for both aps-c and full frame sensor camera. It's great for landscape on full frame camera and also good at hand held shooting in low light condition because of the 4 stop IS system and f2.8 large aperture.
Pros: Superior build quality, Super-sharp images, Fast auto-focus
Cons:

Travel Lens for my 5DMIV

4.0
Verdict: Whenever I travel a lot by foot, this is the lens that I use the most regardless of lighting condition. Aside from all the comments on sharpness and being light, its IS is simply superb. I've used it handheld at shutter speeds of 1/5 and the IS saves the day.

Smashing lens - just what I wanted

5.0
Verdict: Did a test on this lens throughout the aperture range using an APS-C body. Wide open it's very sharp, peaking around f/5.6 and dropping off noticeably from f/11. I think it's a measure of how sharp this lens is that diffraction effect shows up relatively early.
Pros: Quick Focus, Sharp Focus, Strong Construction
Cons:
